Instructions:

• Select the appropriate Pay Period
• Enter the Gross amount to be paid
• Click on the appropriate Tax Code
• Select whether there is a Student Loan
• Select the appropriate Kiwi Saver Rate
• Select the appropriate Tax Table
  • Older - from 1 Oct 2010 to 31 Mar 2011
  • Newer - from 1 Apr 2011 to 31 Mar 2012
• Hit PAYE or Alt-Y

Note: The calculator will produce a warning message if you use a tax table that doesn't match the current date.

No, it doesn't look up the number to see who has it, but it does check that it is a valid number. Use a leading 0 for 8 digit IRD numbers.
